Speaking to members of the press on Sunday, Air Force Commander Major-General Eliezer Shkedi spoke of Hizbullah’s diverse arsenal, stating there are “many rockets of various types” in the terror organization’s arsenal.

Israel is not taking Iranian threats lightly, with intelligence community officials well-aware Tehran has invested heavily in Hizbullah’s arsenal, providing many types of rockets for use against Israel sometime in the future. This includes Zelzal missiles, with a range of 200 kilometers (120 miles), quite capable of delivering a blow to the Gush Dan region. Jerusalem knows that if and when Iran gives the word, Iranian experts deployed in Lebanon will attempt to fire such missiles into Israel.

Seeking to continue the psychological warfare against Israel, Hizbullah leader Sheikh Hassan Nasrallah boldly announced that while IAF fighter jets have succeeded in knocking out missile batteries, Hizbullah remains well-stocked, adding “this is just the beginning.”

In Israel, the northern areas of the country are in a state-of-war, with residents remaining glued to radio broadcasts waiting for the next air raid siren – signaling another wave of incoming rockets from Lebanon.

One Haifa resident who spoke with INN, an engineer by profession, explained that if Hizbullah rockets strike the oil refineries or ammonia tanks, stating a matter-of-factly that then, the situation will really escalate, adding, such an attack will claim many lives.

Homefront Command officials confirm that since the start of the warfare last week, over 600 Israelis have been treated in hospitals and the number continues to climb.

Late Sunday night, Nasrallah carried out yet another threat, to continue striking deeper into Israel, hitting the Jezreel Valley, striking communities between Afula and Beit Shean.

Not wishing to invoke panic among Gush Dan area residents, the Homefront is calling on residents of Tel Aviv and the surrounding areas to “remain alert,” stressing there is no need for panic – just to continue monitoring radio broadcasts and to exhibit a modicum of vigilance, instructing them to head for safe rooms and bomb shelters in the event air raid sirens are sounded.

In the meantime, while Russia and some European nations take a sympathetic position with Arab states against Israel, US President George W. Bush continues to defend Israel’s “right to defend herself,” calling on Jerusalem to eliminate Nasrallah, who today represents a global terror threat.

While calling for restraint in her response, France’s Interior Minister Nicolas Sarkozy stated “Israel must defend herself and has a right to do so.”

Interviewed by Canadian media en route to London for the G8 conference in Russia, Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper told Canadian media that, "Israel has a right to defend itself". He said countries that have influence in the region must "encourage the recognition of Israel's right to exist."

Prime Minister Ehud Olmert continues to confer with the IDF’s General Staff, with senior officials warning Nasrallah does indeed pose a threat to the heart of Israel’s Homefront, as is indicated by Sunday’s firing of Fajar rockets, far superior to the 122mm Katyusha rockets that preceded them, with a capability of traveling longer distances, carrying almost six times the explosive materials, and packed with metallic balls to increase the carnage on impact.

In addition to halting rocket attacks from Lebanon and northern Gaza, the government is also working towards obtaining the release of three hostage soldiers, Gilad Shalit who fell into captivity in southern Green Line Israel during an attack in Kerem Shalom, and Eldad Regev and Ehud Goldwasser, who fell into Hizbullah hands during an attack along the northern border with southern Lebanon.

Prime Minister Ehud Olmert remains firm in his opposition to entering into talks with terrorists, insisting the IDF offensives in the north and south will continue until the attacks are halted and the soldiers released, rejecting any chance of a prisoner exchange deal with Hizbullah and Hamas.
