Golani Brigade Sgt. Yaniv Peretz will receive a citation from the IDF for his treatment of wounded children inside a school bus that was attacked with a terrorist rocket outside Kfar Darom. The combat medic was the first to respond following the attack by Islamic-Palestinian terrorists on November 20, 2000. Sgt. Peretz treated many children who were seriously wounded by the rocket that pierced the armor-plating of the bulletproof bus. Miriam Amitai, mother of 4, and Gabi Biton, father of 6, both in their 30\'s, were killed in the attack, and among the wounded were the three Cohen children, all of whom lost portions of their legs.

Peretz\'s IDF commander stated that although medics are trained to perform under difficult conditions, \"no one is trained to endure such horrors as the carnage seen in that attack. Peretz did not hesitate and began using his medical expertise to treat as many of the wounded as possible until additional emergency medical personnel arrived on the scene.\"
