MK Jamal Zechalkeh (Balad) said, "The Defense Minister wants to build his political career and his security profile on the bodies of Palestinian children."
MK Muhammed Barakeh (Hadash), speaking from the Knesset podium today, said that Peretz must resign in order to spare himself from being called "child murderer."
"The defense of Sderot will not come from widening the circle of blood in Gaza and from murdering children," Barakeh said.
MK Ahmed Tibi (Raam-Taal) was relatively tame in saying, "Killing children has become the norm of every Israeli attack. We can no longer say that this was a mistake. Whoever bombs in a civilian area hits children, and this is a crime that must be ended. Amir Peretz must remember that he bears ministerial responsibility for the killing of innocents."
The IDF announced that it carried out an aerial attack in northern Gaza last night, "targeting an Al Aqsa Martyrs Brigades cell involved in attempts to dispatch attacks against Israel - something against which Israel has clearly and long warned the Palestinian Authority."
The IDF announcement stated its "regrets [for] any civilian casualties caused by the operation. However, it must be stressed that responsibility for the current situation lies with the terror organizations which operate from within the civilian population, and with the Hamas government which has refused to stop the rocket fire."
Palestinian Arab terror groups have launched over 140 rockets at Israel since the
beginning of this month.
Despite yesterday's call by PA leader Mahmoud Abbas to cease Kassam attacks on Israel, his own Fatah organization threatened even more Kassam rockets, in light of last night's Israeli strike in Gaza.
