Some 15 rampaging terrorists destroyed equipment, torched the antenna and threw the workers out while firing into the air.
“Dozens of Hamas gunmen and members of a back-up force of the Interior Minister…are setting equipment on fire,” reported Mohammad ad-Dahoudi, director of Palestine Television.
“They made us come out raising our hands high up,” said one worker in a phone interview with Reuters news service. “The whole place is ruined,” he said.
PA TV is the official television network in the PA-controlled territories and is run by the PA broadcast authority, controlled by PA President Mahmoud Abbas. PA TV broadcasters have been charged by senior Hamas members with slanting the coverage in favor of Abbas and his Fatah party. The broadcasters have also been accused of ignoring the Hamas-led PA government and other organizations as well.
“You are collaborators,” charged the attackers, according to workers quoted by Salon.com. “You are biased. You are dirty people,” they screamed.
Two employees were beaten up, including one cameraman, according to media reports. The marauders fired at cameras and other broadcasting equipment. They quit the building a short time later.
