One of the wounded in the latest Fatah-Hamas gunbattle is in serious condition. The gunfire erupted when a political discussion between Fatah and Hamas members got out of hand. Gunfire continued afterwards in the southern Gaza city of Rafah.



Over the holiday weekend, Arab vandals arrived at Yair Park near Yad Yair, between Beit El and Dolev in Binyamin, and desecrated the synagogue there. The Arabs threw prayer books on the floor, tore out and stole electric cables, and removed the fence encircling the synagogue.



The ultimatum that PA chief Mahmoud Abbas (Abu Mazen) issued to Hamas regarding the Prisoners' Document expires on Tuesday, following a two-day extension. Nabil Amar, an Abbas-confidante, says that if Hamas does not accept the document, which grants Israel a measure of recognition within the 1967 borders, Abu Mazen will immediately call a public referendum on the matter.



Amar also said that the PA chief will not visit Gaza for as long as the new Hamas security force continues to operate there.



An Islamic Jihad delegation, headed by MK Sheikh Tzartzour, was to meet with Abbas in Ramallah today. One of the items on the agenda is the matter of Fatah-Hamas relations.



Prime Minister Ehud Olmert left for Sharm al-Sheikh today to meet with Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak.



Public Security Minister Avi Dichter told the Cabinet today that in his opinion, the IDF should bomb the northern Gaza city of Beit Hanoun to the ground if the Arabs' Kassam rocket attacks do not cease. Defense Minister Amir Peretz and Foreign Minister Tzippy Livny took issue with Dichter's recommendations.



The number of countries offering financial aid to Hamas, on the basis of "humanitarian aid," is increasing. Among them are the following:

• Morocco sent 210 tons of food last week

• Switzerland has decided to send $819,000 for medicines.

• Malaysia has offered $16 million for "special projects," including the improvement of infrastructures

• Indonesia has given $341,000
