At a meeting on Sunday, Police Commissioner Moshe Karadi presented Ezra with his plan for stepping up security patrols in places frequented by large numbers of people, particularly the country’s outdoor markets and shopping malls.
Israel currently faces over 70 individual threats of terrorist attack. Thirteen of those threats relate to a specific time or place of attack.
Karadi also ordered the police’s traffic division to intensify law enforcement against traffic offenders, as tens of thousands of holiday vacationers hit the country’s crowded roads and highways. He said the traffic police will be out in full force on interurban routes. Traffic police will also be on alert for potential security threats on the roads.
