Following Yasser Arafat’s ceasefire announcement, and only hours after U.S. Secretary of State Colin Powell noted the “relative quiet” on the part of the Palestinian terrorists, an Israeli woman from the eastern Gush Etzion community of Nokdim was murdered this morning. Last night, two men were wounded, one seriously one moderately, in a separate attack.
The woman from Nokdim was hit as she and her family were on their way home from Jerusalem; her husband was seriously wounded, but their three children, sleeping in the back seat, were unhurt. The shots were fired from a passing car which then escaped towards the PA-controlled town of Beit Sahour, south of Bethlehem. A group associated with Fatah, Arafat’s original terrorist organization, took credit for the murder.
