Maj.Gen. (Res.) Amir Drori died on Shabbat while touring the Negev oil pipeline route in Wadi Hava.



Drori, 68, suffered a heart attack while participating in the field trip.



Amir Drori served was in charge of the Northern Command during the 1982 Lebanon war. After leaving the IDF he was appointed to head the Israel Antiquities Authority.



During the 1973 Yom Kippur War, Drori commanded the IDF unit that recaptured Mt. Hermon from the Syrian army.
