    US approves $800 million arms deal with Iraq

    The US State Department has approved an estimated $800 million arms sale to the Iraqi government. Under the deal, Iraq is expected to acquire Bell Textron helicopters, machine-gun launchers, rockets, optical systems, missile-launch detection systems and additional logistical equipment.

    The State Department said the acquisition is expected to enhance Iraq's transportation, reconnaissance and strike capabilities against current and future threats.
