Nine people were killed and 20 others injured in an improvised explosive device (IED) blast at a cafe in central Damascus on Thursday, the Syrian Ministry of Interior has updated.
A preliminary investigation into the incident indicates that the device contained approximately one kilogram of explosives and was packed with numerous metal fragments intended to maximize casualties.
