The Knesset plenum approved in its second and third readings Amendment No. 4 to the Law for the Prevention of Violence in Sports, initiated by MK Yulia Malinovsky of Yisrael Beytenu with the support of additional MKs. Eight MKs voted in favor, with no opposition.
Under the amendment, throwing pyrotechnic devices during a sporting event, near it, at the venue where it is held, or toward it, will be defined as a criminal offense. The maximum penalty set for this offense is three years in prison.
