The Knesset plenum on Monday night approved in its second and third readings an amendment to the Cinema Law, introducing a fundamental change to the mechanism for selecting film evaluators in Israeli cinema. Under the amendment, the government‑run pool of evaluators will be abolished, and full independence will be granted to the film funds.
27 MKs supported the amendment, and one abstained.
