An Egyptian source in Cairo told the Saudi channel Asharq that Egypt has no objection to holding a meeting between Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. According to him, in the past, the possibility of a US-mediated meeting was discussed on the sidelines of the Sharm el-Sheikh peace summit, during which the Gaza ceasefire agreement was signed in the presence of the US President and other world leaders.
The source added that there is an alternative American proposal under which the Trump administration would convene an American-Arab-Islamic summit in Washington, and on its sidelines, Netanyahu and el-Sisi would meet in the presence of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and Qatar’s leader, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani.
