The Ukrainian Ambassador to Israel, Yevgen Korniychuk, was summoned on Wednesday for reprimand at the Foreign Ministry with the Deputy Director General for Eurasia, following an interview he gave to Ynet in which he criticized the Prime Minister’s remarks regarding his talks with the Russian President.

The Deputy Director General for Eurasia at the Foreign Ministry, Yuval Fuchs, clarified to the ambassador that “his remarks are completely unacceptable and deviate from diplomatic protocol. Moreover, the ambassador’s statements ignore Israel’s clear position since the outbreak of the war in Ukraine, as was reflected, among other things, in the visit of Foreign Minister Gideon Sa’ar to Kyiv this year and in Israel’s votes at the UN.”

The Foreign Ministry stated that Fuchs “expressed hope that the ambassador’s statements will align with the common desire of both countries to continue and deepen cooperation between them.”
