Barak Ravid reported on Channel 12 News that as part of the US plan to end the war, Washington has offered Ukraine an unprecedented security guarantee, based on a model similar to NATO’s Article 5.
According to the draft, a “significant and sustained” Russian attack would be considered a threat to peace in the trans-Atlantic region - and the allied nations would be required to respond accordingly, including the use of military force. This would be the strongest security commitment offered to Kyiv to date.
The plan also reportedly includes a requirement for Ukraine to reduce its army from roughly 850,000 to 600,000 soldiers, as part of the proposed security arrangement.
