The Israel Air Force completed an operation to drop 32 fire-fighting charges, including approximately 35 tons of flame retardant, as part of the international assistance to extinguish the fires in Cyprus. The drops were carried out by "Shimson" aircraft of the Elephants Squadron (103 Squadron).
The activity took place in cooperation with the Israeli Fire and Rescue Service, which provided the extinguishing agents and the dedicated dropping equipment. The Air Force's 757th Cargo Unit, which specializes in preparing cargo and adapting transport aircraft for such missions, also took part in the operation.
