Defense Ministry Crossing Authority security inspectors foiled an attempt overnight to smuggle an M-16 assault rifle through the Trans-Samaria Crossing on Route 5.
A Palestinian Arab who arrived at the eastern side of the crossing raised the inspectors' suspicions. Upon inspecting the vehicle, the forces found ammunition in a piece of furniture.
