A volcano erupted near Reykjavik, the capital of Iceland, on Monday night, about a week after an earthquake was felt in the area.
Fearing a significant eruption on the Reykjanes peninsula, authorities last month evacuated the nearly 4,000 inhabitants of the fishing town of Grindavik.
