Chairman of the Finance Committee, MK Moshe Gafni, commented: "I am happy that the governor of the Bank of Israel is sitting with the banks to discuss the profits of the customer deposits, and to discuss the mortgage interest rates and the gap between them. We held many discussions on this problem with the banks."

Gafni also said: ''We need to close this gap, we need to curb the interest on mortgages and stop this reality that young couples and families are collapsing under a financial burden that they are not to blame for. It's good that the governor got into it. We will continue and follow up, discuss the matter and take action."
