Minister of Construction and Housing Yitzhak Goldknopf arrived yesterday (Thursday) for a professional work tour together with the staff of his office in the city of Rishon Lezion at the invitation of Mayor Raz Kinstlich. The Minister was accompanied by the Director General of the Ministry of Construction and Housing Yehuda Morgenstern and representatives of various housing projects.
In the area where the 'Tzrifin' camp used to be located, the Minister of Construction and Housing received a review from the head of the administration responsible for the establishment and development of the neighborhood, on the development of construction in the new neighborhood which is expected to house approximately 10,000 housing units, including protected housing and student dormitories.
A large part of the housing units in the place were marketed as part of the Ministry of Housing's "discounted apartment" initiative at a discount of about one million NIS, where by the end of this year it is expected that about forty percent of the apartments will be occupied and in about two years they will reach 80% occupancy. The new neighborhood is expected to house a total of 50,000 residents, a population the size of a large city in central Israel.
