The chairman of the coalition, Ofir Katz, the grandson of a Farhoud survivor, passed a bill in a preliminary reading to establish a national day to commemorate the Farhoud.

The events of the Farhoud took place in Baghdad, Iraq in June 1941, and included riots and the massacre of Jews under the auspices of Nazi propaganda. In the riots, 179 Jews were murdered, 2,118 were injured, 242 children were orphaned and the property of over 50,000 people was looted.
