Rabbi Gershon Edelstein, 100, by many considered as the Gadol Hador, has passed away after being hospitalized Thursday night due to shortness of breath.
Rabbi Edelstein ZT”L was a leading Lithuanian-haredi rabbi, dean of the Ponevezh Yeshiva in Bnei Brak, and spiritual leader of the Degel HaTorah party – part of the UTJ (United Torah Judaism) party.
He passed away at Mayaanei Hayeshua hospital in Bnei Brak after a serious deterioration to his condition.
