During a working visit to Washington D.C. last week, US ambassador to Israel Tom Nides informed Secretary of State Anthony Blinken and National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan of his wish to terminate his term as ambassador this summer.
A few hours before Operation Shield and Arrow commenced, Nides updated senior officials in the government of his intention. His deputy, Stephanie Hallett, will become an interim replacement.
An embassy spokesperson confirmed to Israel National News that, “Yes, it’s true that Ambassador Nides met with his senior staff this morning to inform them of his intention to step down this summer.”
