Following a fire that broke out Tuesday night, the Ministry of Environmental Protection demanded that the Abu Snan local council act immediately to deal with the serious smoke hazard at the pirate waste site near the town. Abu Snan is a Moslem-majority town in the Galilee in northern Israel, with sizeable Druze and Christian minorities.

The results of sampling carried out by the Association of Western Galilee Cities and forwarded to the Ministry of Environmental Protection, indicate moderate values of air pollution in the nearby settlements at this stage. However, the measurements do not indicate air pollution that exceeds the warning threshold for particles.
