Israel's ambassador to the United Nations, Gilad Erdan, has described some of his feelings on Independence Day, writing on Twitter:
"Every day I am moved, afresh, when I see our flag flying at the United Nations among the other flags of the nations. I am so proud to have the privilege to represent our country, a country that is unique - there is none other like it in the whole world. And there is nothing that is more important to me than to protect our country to the best of my ability.
"I love being an Israeli and I love representing you, beloved Israeli citizens," he concluded.
