Minister Miri Regev, who is in charge of the events of the 75th Independence Day of the State of Israel, announced to Reut Amichai, 17 years old from Moshav Neta in the Lachish Valley, a volunteer of the Shomer Hachadash organization, that she had chosen her from among those recommended by the public advisory committee to rlight a torch on Mount Herzl on Independence Day.

Shomer Hachadash is an educational and Zionist social organization established in 2007 by a group of volunteers who love the land to assist and empower farmers and enforcement agents in safeguarding the lands of the country and at the same time connect the residents of the entire country, with an emphasis on the younger generation, to the land, love of the land, Zionism and mutual responsibility.

Since its founding in 2007, the organization has led tens of thousands of Israelis in diverse agricultural volunteering activities alongside educational activities whose pillars are the values ​​of hard work, mutual responsibility, civic courage and love of the land. Reut has been volunteering for over 3 years, and is active in the young leadership program of the organization. She was chosen by the heads of the organization to represent the thousands of volunteers.
