Tami Shelah, the chairman of the IDF Widows and Orphans organization, addressed a letter today (Sunday) to the heads of the Jewish parties in the Knesset demanding that they come together for a joint statement and prevent the Memorial Day riots and the expected disturbances in the cemeteries.

In her letter she wrote: "You, the elected officials, are the ones who send our loved ones, our fathers, our brothers and our sons to battle. It is right and proper that on our holy day you look at us in the eyes, with the eyes that suffer the price of the campaign, and in front of them you will give an account. In this difficult time you must demonstrate to the entire Israeli public the meaning of national unity. Gather together and issued a joint call to leave the political controversy out of the cemeteries and Memorial Day ceremonies''.

Shelah requested: "Please emphasize to the elected officials the obligation to give unifying speeches at this time and to avoid controversial issues in the cemeteries; please emphasize to your voters their responsibility to allow all of us to pass these days in peace."
