The bill submitted by MK Yitzhak Kreuzer, chairman of the Otzma Yehudit faction, for the war against protectionism was approved by the Knesset in a preliminary reading.
The bill is part of National Security Minister Ben Gvir's demands in the coalition agreements between Likud and Otzma Yehudit.
The proposal toughens the punishment for protection offenses, sets a minimum punishment of at least 3 years for a protection offense, and increases the maximum punishment for this offense.
