In a preliminary reading, the Knesset Plenary approved an amendment to the Student Rights Bill submitted by Knesset member Yonatan Misherki (Shas). Thirty-four members of Knesset supported the proposal without opposition and it will be forwarded to the Education Committee.
The bill seeks to improve students' rights regarding exams and assignments, including the right to demand that the examiner of an appeal on an exam or assignment be different from the original examiner, allocating 21 days for making a decision on an appeal, enshrining the students' right to go to the restroom during an exam that lasts an hour and a half or more.
In addition, the bill seeks to strengthen the students' right to submit a complaint to the Admissions Commissioner by allocating 30 days for a response.
