The government accepted the proposal of the Minister of Labor Yoav Ben Tzur in cooperation with the Minister of National Security Itamar Ben-Gvir, labeling fireworks as explosive devices in an emergency nine-month decree.
The purpose of the decision is to provide the IDF additional resources for barring fireworks over the month of Ramadan.
"We made a commitment and we are keeping it. This is an important step ahead of Ramadan. We are providing the security forces and police all the available tools for fighting terrorism. We will [also] increase enforcement and punitive measures, and take a clear stand in the fight against weapons and explosives use," he was quoted as saying.
