The American State Department issued an official statement that at the Aqaba Conference an Israeli commitment was agreed not to approve new housing units in Judea and Samaria for the next four months and not to approve the recognition of settlements in the next six months.
However, there is no commitment not to continue building and recognizing settlements and housing units that have already been approved by the government.
