El Al received official permission from the Oman Aviation Authority to fly over the country's airspace following the Gulf state's joining the Abraham Accords with Israel.
The first flight that will fly on a shortened route will be ly083 from Tel Aviv to Bangkok. It will take off at 8:15 pm this evening and have an estimated flight time of eight hours.
"El Al is proud to be the first Israeli airline to fly over the skies of Saudi Arabia and Oman, and to take an active part in the history of the State of Israel. I want to thank the Israeli government for this important achievement that will allow us to provide a better flight experience to our customers," said El Al CEO Dina Ben-Tal Ganansia.
