MDA paramedics provided medical treatment at the Tel Aviv Marathon and evacuated a total of 22 of the marathon participants to the Ichilov, Tel Hashomer, and Belinson hospitals.
Among the victims was a 48-year-old man who suffered a heart attack and after resuscitation attempts that included the use of a defibrillator, he was taken to the Ichilov Hospital in an MDA intensive care unit fully conscious. Two individuals (a 50-year-old woman and a 26-year-old man) who suffered heat strokes were treated in dedicated cooling pools erected at the event and evacuated to hospital in stable condition.
In addition, MDA teams along the routes and in the clinic tents treated runners who felt unwell, dehydrated, fainted and were slightly injured. They did not require further treatment and were released immediately.
