The District Court in Tel Aviv accepted the state's position and increased the sentence of Rotem Mizrahi, who was convicted of fraud and theft from women he met on a dating app, to three years in prison.
As part of the amended indictment, to which Mizrahi admitted, it appears that he used to steal and fraudulently receive things from various women, whom he met on the dating app. Among other things, Mizrahi used to lie about his name, his past, his job, his place of residence and more. For example, he introduced himself as "Rotem Gertler" or "Rotem Katzir" and claimed to the complainants that he owns an apartment and lives in Tel Aviv or Haifa, works in the security sector or as a paramedic and was formerly an officer in an undercover unit.
In light of the misrepresentations, some of the complainants allowed Mizrahi to live in their houses. During the period of cohabitation, he maintained a romantic relationship with the complainants and often stole money or belongings from them.
