Hatzalah of Waterbury, Connecticut has received a full EMS license in the state after years of preparation, according to Yeshiva World News.
Hatzalah of Waterbury will now be licensed to operate ambulances and its EMTs will be able to perform life support procedures as well as advanced life support from paramedics, the report said.
The organization worked with state legislators and Raffaella Coler, the director the Connecticut Office of EMS, to add Hatzalah into the sate’s emergency medical service.
“With much excitement, we would like to inform the community that Hatzalah of Waterbury has obtained full EMS licensure, allowing us to respond as Basic (EMT) and Advanced (Paramedic) Life Support, with fully licensed ambulances,” Hatzalah of Waterbury said in a letter to the Waterbury Jewish community.
“We are proud to have two state-of-the-art ambulances along with many well trained EMTs and paramedics to provide the highest standard of care to our community.”
After receiving approval, Hatzalah met with local hospital staff to introduce the organization’s volunteers to the staff of local emergency departments.
“Having our own ambulances will allow our members to provide swift transport to the appropriate facility based on the needs of each individual patient,” the organization said.
