Defense Minister Benny Gantz on Saturday night held a situation assessment with the participation of the IDF Chief of Staff, the Commissioner of the Israel Police, the Attorney General, the head of the Central Command, the Coordinator of Government Activities in the Territories and other security officials.

Gantz is expected to demand that a flag parade planned for this week in Jerusalem not be held in an outline that will require a special security effort and could harm public order and the ongoing political processes.

"There is a duty to conduct oneself with political, security and civic sensitivity," he said.

Earlier, Otzma Yehudit chairman MK Itamar Ben Gvir said, "We will march in Jerusalem despite the anger of the emerging left-wing extremist government. It is amazing that after they sold the Negev, gave up the rule of law and folded before Ra'am, now even a flag parade in Jerusalem makes them claim that this is a provocation. Jerusalem is our capital forever and we will march in it everywhere, happily."
