MK Mansour Abbas, chairman of the United Arab List (Ra’am) met Sunday morning with Opposition Leader and Yesh Atid chief Yair Lapid.

At the end of the meeting the two said that discussions will continue in the coming days, a Yesh Atid spokesperson said.

During the meeting with Lapid, Abbas laid out a number of conditions for supporting an alternative government to unseat Prime Minister Netanyahu.

If the UAL is to support a Lapid-led government, Abbas said, the new coalition must include a practical plan for combating crime in the Arab sector, recognition of illegal Bedouin settlements in the Negev, and the freezing of the Kaminitz Law, which has made it easier for the government to combat illegal construction.

The UAL responded to the report Sunday, refusing to confirm the list of demands.

“All of the reports in the media regarding demands issued during MK Dr. Mansour Abbas’ meeting with MK Yair Lapid are to be considered rumor and hearsay by the person reporting the claim. Only UAL MKs and officials in the movement and the party are authorized to represent our official position.”

The meeting came a day after Abbas met with Likud MK Ayoub Kara.

Minister of Defense Benny Gantz is set to meet with Leader of the Opposition Yair Lapid Sunday evening to discuss ways to form a government and replace Netanyahu, a Yesh Atid spokesperson said.
