Eight demonstrators were arrested this afternoon after dozens blocked the entrance to the Prime Minister's residence at the corner of Balfour and Smolenskin streets in Jerusalem.

Police said that "following a protest that began on Smolenskin Street in Jerusalem, police forces there have begun operations to restore order."

The Black Flags movement stated before the demonstration that "incitement and violence will not scare us from an uncompromising war to save Israeli democracy."

The Leftist Crime Minister organization, which will hold a march to the demonstration complex, said that "at the beginning of a new year, we are determined to continue the protest that overthrew the failed government of the defendant and lead to his overthrow in the election."
