Foreign Minister Gabi Ashkenazi commented on the Sudanese government decision to join the Abraham Accords and establish diplomatic relations with Israel.

"53 years after the infamous Khartoum conference in which the leaders of the Arab states adopted the speech of the three 'Nos', we now live in the reality of the five yesses," Ashkenazi said. "Yes to peace with Egypt, yes to peace with Jordan, yes to peace with the United Arab Emirates, yes to peace with Bahrain and now, yes to peace with Sudan.

"It is a courageous and historic decision that advances the entire Middle East to a future of stability and prosperity, and I call on more states - and the Palestinian leadership - to choose the path of peace and change the Middle East for the future of our children."

The Foreign Minister concluded: "I want to thank our American allies for leading this important move, and President Trump and the team he appointed, headed by Jared Kushnir, for finding the path to peace where so many leaders have failed in the past."
