A policeman from the Tel Aviv district died today after contracting coronavirus. The policeman, in his 50s, came into contact with carriers as part of his job.

In recent days, the policeman was hospitalized at Ichilov Hospital, where he was under sedation and on ventilator, but today doctors were forced to determine his death, Channel 12 News reported.

The Health Ministry tonight said in the last day 2,925 people tested COVID-19 positive.

This brings the number in Israel to 289,799, of whom 62,165 were active patients, of whom 1,544 were hospitalized. Of those hospitalized, 845 are in critical condition and 232 are on ventilator. To date, 1,914 coronavirus patients are reported to have died in Israel and 225,718 have recovered.
