Paris police evacuated the Eiffel Tower Wednesday afternoon, following a bomb threat to the landmark site.

Initial reports say a suspect shouted “Allahu Akbar”, and threatened to “blow everything up”.

BFM TV reported that the bomb threat was received over the phone.

Officers cordoned off the surrounding area and evacuated the tower. Police are currently conducting searches of the area.

A police source said that the caller who phoned in the bomb threat had "threatened to blow himself up," The Daily Mail reported. Police have not confirmed this claim, however.
