Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is convening a special meeting this morning, Thursday, with five ministers and representatives of the health ministry and National Security Council to examine further restrictions related to coronavirus.

The number of people infected with the virus continues to rise and according to data from the Ministry of Health, with 1,898 Israelis were infected yesterday - a new daily record.

Netanyahu and ministers will discuss options to limit gatherings to 10 people except in workplaces. They will also be asked to approve the closure of beaches, synagogues and gyms.

Also up for discussion is a decision to allow restaurants to operate delivery services only.

The discussion will be attended by Health Minister Yuli Edelstein, Finance Minister Israel Katz, Defense Minister Benny Gantz, Interior Minister Aryeh Deri and Science and Technology Minister Yizhar Shai.

This morning it was reported on Kan that the Ministry of Health expresses support for imposing a nightly closure in order to prevent a increase in infections.

According to the proposal, the night closure will be imposed between 9 pm and 6 am. Its purpose is to prevent night gatherings, while maintaining normal economic functioning during the day.
