An IDF soldier was moderately wounded when he was shot during a training accident in the Jordan Valley Monday. The incident occurred at the base of the Kfir Brigade in Hamam El Maliach.

Hatzalah paramedics treated the soldier at the scene and evacuated him to Rambam Hospital in Haifa.

The military is investigating the circumstances which led to the shooting.

Last month, an IDF Colonel was shot during a training accident in the Negev. Lieutenant-Colonel Avihai Mor Yosef was seriously wounded during a training accident at the Tze'elim Army Base.

Following the shooting at the Tze'elim base, the head of the IDF’s Training and Doctrine Division, Maj. Gen. Moti Baruch, decided to halt training using firearms at the national training center until the investigation of the incident was completed.
