The Palestinian Authority (PA) cabinet announced on Sunday that a lockdown on Hebron, Bethlehem, Ramallah and Shechem (Nablus), which was announced in order to curb the spread of the coronavirus, had been extended by four days.

PA spokesman Ibrahim Milhem said that in accordance with the state of emergency, the cabinet also decided to prevent residents from moving between the different districts for two weeks, imposing an internal lockdown on villages and neighborhoods where there is a large number of cases, preventing them from leaving their homes from 8:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. for a period of two weeks, and a total lockdown from Thursday this week and until next Sunday (except for essential services).

Other emergency measures include a ban on weddings, mourning tents and all other gatherings, a complete ban on summer camps, the closure of beauty and fitness centers, a ban on sitting in restaurants, a complete ban on work in “settlements”, a ban on going to work in Israel or returning from work in Israel, and a call on Israeli Arabs not to visit Judea and Samaria.

The number of cases in the PA has reached 7,037 and the number of recovered cases stands at 1,116.

16 cases are in serious condition and 37 have died from the virus. There are currently 5,793 active cases in the PA, of which 4,142 are in the Hebron district.
