The PLO Executive Committee on Wednesday expressed its strong opposition to US and Israeli moves that seek to implement “annexation” and "apartheid" in line with the Trump administration's “Deal of the Century”.

Following a meeting in Ramallah, the PLO Executive Committee put an emphasis on the decisions of the PLO and Palestinian Authority leader Mahmoud Abbas, who ordered the cancellation of agreements and understandings with Israel and the US, including the security understandings.

The PLO Executive Committee statement said that the delay in the announcement on annexation is merely a tactical move designed to deceive the world and create the impression that Israel has withdrawn from the plan or reduced area intended for annexation.

According to the PLO Executive Committee, the meaning of “annexation” is “the continued occupation of Palestinian land by force and the beginning of the implementation of a plan to thwart the possibility of establishing an independent Palestinian state within the borders of June 4, 1967, the capital of which is eastern Jerusalem.

The statement argues that the annexation of even one foot of Judea and Samaria means the collapse of the Palestinian Authority and the transfer of full responsibility over Judea and Samaria to Israel as the “occupying ruler”.

The PLO Executive Committee also announced the organization's intention to convene the UN General Assembly to condemn the annexation and order that sanctions be imposed on Israel.

The PA has expressed outrage over the coalition agreement between Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister Benny Gantz, which stipulates that the government could have applied sovereignty over Judea and Samaria on July 1.

On Sunday, Saeb Erekat, secretary-general of the Palestine Liberation Organization, said the PA has been mobilizing efforts with several countries within the UN General Assembly in order to establish an international coalition against the Israeli plan.
