Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro tested positive for the coronavirus Tuesday.

Bolsonaro told reporters that he had contracted the disease, adding that he began to feel ill on Sunday.

He also said that he was taking , an anti-Malarial drug which US President Donald Trump has touted as a remedy for the coronavirus.

The presidential palace said that Bolsonaro had a fever of 38 degrees Celsius (about 100.4 degrees Fahrenheit).

Brazil has seen one of the most severe outbreaks of the coronavirus in the world. Over 1.6 million Brazilians have been diagnosed with the virus since the beginning of the pandemic, with over 65,000 fatalities.

Only the United States has a higher number of confirmed coronavirus cases
