Gilat Bennett, wife of Yamina chairman MK Naftali Bennett, on Monday evening criticized Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu on Facebook.

Bennett was responding to a post written by strategist Assaf Fassi in which he said that her husband should be appointed to head the Israeli campaign against the coronavirus.

Fassi had written, "Put right and left aside. The one who now needs to handle things is Naftali Bennett. Coordinating with the various parties, he is the one who should be managing the goings on. He is diligent, accurate and alert to what is happening on the ground.”

He added, "That's the only thing he can focus on in the coming months. He doesn't have an office or a ministerial portfolio. Just to protect us from the coronavirus. Let Bennett defeat the coronavirus."

Gilat Bennett responded to the post and wrote, "It's amazing that the fact that Bibi, despite his reverberating failures, doesn't think about this, proving how uninterested he is in this country."

"As far as he’s concerned, let us go through an economic holocaust only so that no one will love anyone more than him," added Naftali Bennett's wife.

The Likud reacted to the attack, saying, "While Prime Minister Netanyahu is working around the clock to save the lives and livelihoods of Israeli citizens, we will not receive moral preaching from those who preferred to remain in the opposition instead of being accountable and working for Israeli citizens, and while they were in the coalition, they were engaged in non-stop leaks from the Cabinet.”
