The number of confirmed cases of the coronavirus continues to rise in Israel, with more than 7,000 active cases of the virus as of Tuesday morning, according to data released by the Israeli Health Ministry.

There were 714 new confirmed cases of the virus Monday, with another 121 cases reported Tuesday morning, bringing the total number of active cases to 7,096.

The rise in the number of new confirmed cases was fueled primarily by a surge in the number of tests, with 18,624 tests on Monday, compared to just 10,387 a day earlier.

However, the percentage of tests which were found to be positive did increase slightly, rising to 3.8% from 3.7%.

One person died from a coronavirus infection Tuesday, pushing the total number of coronavirus-related fatalities to 320.

Since the pandemic began, a total of 24,688 cases of the virus have been reported in Israel, with 320 fatalities and 17,272 people recovering from the virus.

Despite the significant increase in the number of confirmed infections and the increase in the percentage of positive tests, the number of serious cases of the coronavirus has remained relatively stable.

There are currently 228 patients hospitalized for the coronavirus, with 66 in moderate condition and a further 46 in serious condition. Twenty-four patients are on ventilators.
