
The number of coronavirus-related fatalities in Israel rose to 313 on Friday, according to data released by the Health Ministry Friday afternoon.
Four more patients suffering from the coronavirus died since Thursday afternoon, with a fifth fatality reported on Friday.
That’s the largest number of coronavirus-related fatalities in a single day in more than a month.
The daily infection rate – the number of new positive tests in a day – stabilized Friday at 441, following a week-long increase, peaking at 466 on Thursday. The infection rate – that is, the percentage of tests found to be positive – also stabilized after rising to 2.6% on Wednesday, and remaining at 2.6% of Thursday. Tests from Friday have averaged a 2.0% positive rate thus far.
A further 106 cases were reported on Friday.
A total of 22,638 cases of the coronavirus have been confirmed since the pandemic started, with 16,589 patients recovering.
Currently, there are 5,736 active cases of the virus, with 192 current hospitalizations.
Forty-three of the active cases are serious, with a further 54 moderate condition.
The number of patients on respirators remains stable at 28, far below the peak of 137 recorded in early April.
