The Border Police concluded a preliminary investigation of the ramming attack this afternoon at the Kiosk Checkpoint near Abu Dis in the area of Ma'aleh Adumim.

Investigation revealed that at about 4:00 pm, a Palestinian Authority vehicle reached the checkpoint.

A Border Police officer signaled the vehicle to stop, but the vehicle continued speeding while veering from the lane and hitting the police inspection post.

As a result of the damage to the Border Policewoman's post, she was lightly injured. The attacker exited his vehicle and approached the forces, but a Border Police officer and policeman operating at the crossing responded by shooting several rounds at the attacker, killing him.

Medical forces arriving at the scene determined the death of the attacker, a 27-year-old from Abu Dis. The lightly wounded fighter was evacuated to Mount Scopus Hospital for medical treatment.

Company Commander Ben Vaknin praised the fighters' response: "The fighters strove for contact and ended the incident as quickly as possible with minimal injury to our forces."
